Madill Rocks Ranked Roff in Impromptu Game Tuesday

The Madill basketball boys knocked off Class B’s previously unbeaten and No. 1 ranked Roff Tigers Tuesday in an impromptu contest 50-41 inside the Wildcat Fieldhouse. Three ‘Cats scored in double figures in the victory in front of the home crowd. The Lady ‘Cats also got a 39-31 triumph behind Jayden Weiberg’s game-high 20 points.

The boys were paced by Zeke Fuentes’ team-best 18 points as the senior had key free throws in the final moments to help seal the win. Nick Northcutt and RJ Morris chipped in 10 points each in the winning effort.  Madill forged a 14-7 advantage by the the end of the first quarter. The ‘Cats clung to a 17-16 lead at the half. Madill increased its’ edge to 36-30 by the end of the third quarter. The Wildcats outscored the Tigers 14-11 in the final frame. Kendall Robertson had six points. Stephen Sisco and River Shaw had three points apiece. The Wildcats are winners of six games in a row now. The current streak began Dec. 16 with a 24-14 win over Durant in the Dickson tournament.

The Lady ‘Cats just kept clawing away in the contest. It was not more than a two-possession lead by the end of each quarter on Tuesday. Madill led 8-6 at the end of one. Roff led 18-13 at the half and 26-25 by the end of the third. However, Madill mantained the battle throughout to prevail down the stretch. Braylee Schneider had seven points. Allyson Knight tossed in five points. Abbie Lambertsen had three points. Aubrie Cantrell and Hannah Elkins each had two points. The Lady Wildcats have now won two consecutive contests.

The Madill wrestling team suffered a 72-3 loss to Blanchard Tuesday.
