Madill Drops Wrestling Dual to Ada Tuesday; Madill Community Celebrates Love's Coaching Career

The Madill wrestlers lost the dual with Ada 63-33 on Tuesday night. 

Madill celebrated the coaching career of wrestling head coach Jim Love.

JJ Padron was recognized as a senior.

Love was given a park bench and shadow box full of Madill memories.

The junior high lost 48-33.

Coach Love’s tenure at Madill began in 2012 after he was inducted into the national wrestling Hall of Fame. Love led the following wrestlers to place at the state tournament:

2014: Rio Zamora, 126, 2nd

2015: Tyler Ramirez, 132, 4th

2015: Will Shelby, 106, 4th

2019: Colt Crowson, 160, 3rd

2019: Griffon Williams, 285, 4th

2021: Griffon  Williams, 285, 4th

Love helped establish the first official Madill girls wrestling team. Brayleigh Thompson was the fist Madill girls wrestler to qualify for the state tournament through a regional competition in 2021.

Madill also won the Midwestern Conference Championship in 2016 under Coach Love
