Mrs. Long's Kindergarten Class

Hello, Hola, Konnichiwa and Aloha

to the parents and friends of Mrs. Long's 2002-03 USA Team Kindergarten Class. Class members are: Uriel, Marisela, Ben, Esteban, Warren, Jovannie, Moises, Ladd, Brenden, Brandon, Maggie, Lizbeth, Dale, Juaquin, Christopher, Laura, Noemi, Casey, and Rio.

We will be studying units on Nursery Rhymes, Creepy Crawlers, Bountiful Harvest, and Gingerbread Men this fall. Skills we will be working on this grading period are: counting, naming numerals, making sets up to 10 and writing numerals; constructing graphs and making patterns; learning the names and sounds of letters, identifying and drawing shapes; blending letter sounds to read words; participating in experiments and recording observations; and recognizing and writing our names. We have adopted # 9 Michael Stephens as our Wildcat football player. He comes to our class and tells us about being a member of a team. We have a mom and a grandmother volunteering in our room each week. If you are interested in volunteering, please let Mrs. Long know.

We are a Great Expectations classroom with a fun Rise & Shine each morning. The life principles we will learn about this semester are friendship, honesty, integrity, self-discipline, respect, courage, compassion, perseverance, loyalty, effort and cooperation. Quotations we will memorize include: "The only way to have a friend is to be one." R.W. Emerson; "You have brains in your head. You have feet in your shoes. You can steer yourself any direction you choose." Dr. Seuss; and "I study and get ready and maybe my chance will come." Abraham Lincoln.
