    Preparing for standardized tests

    Your middle schooler has state tests coming up!  Review these strategies before testing begins:

    • Knowing how to approach different kinds of questions will help them score higher.  For instance, on multiple-choice sections, they could cover up the answers while reading the question.  If the answer they thought of is listed and the other options don't make more sense, they can be pretty confident they are right.
    • Have your child find out whether they'll lose points for wrong answers.  If not, it's best to guess.  Also, if scrap paper is allowed, they can use it to work out problems and to keep their place on the answer sheet.

    Be sure your child's Immunizations are up to date!
    All 6th grade students are required to have a Tdap booster before entering the 7th grade in August.  If you have questions, please check with your local health department or physician.  Once the student has received the immunization, please be sure to furnish the middle school office with a copy of the shot record.

    FREE BREAKFAST!

    ALL students are welcome to eat a FREE breakfast daily!!
    7:30 - 8:00 AM

    Now until the last day of school your child can eat breakfast for FREE.  We want to encourage students to start their day of learning by eating the most important meal of the day.

    Studies show eating breakfast can improve:
    * Test Scores
    * Academic Success
    * Attendance
    * Better Behavior
    * Classroom Performance

    The Madill School Board will reevaluate the Free Breakfast Program this summer to see if it will continue next year.  The more students who participate, the more successful the program will be.
