Volcanos
Mrs. Larason's third grade class at the Madill Elementary School recently completed a unit of study on volcanoes. Students demonstrated how their volcanoes could "erupt" by using a mixture of vinegar and baking soda.

The Quilt Story
Hand made quilts were displayed in the library for students to see and touch. The students read The Quilt Story, then participated in several extension activites to enhance vocabulary and understanding of the quilt making process.Teachers provided classroom projects that included math-based quilt decorating,storytelling,and show and tell about personal family quilt heirlooms.

Mrs Dodd's 5th Grade Science Class
Kevin Leyva and Camille Martinez, fifth grade students at Madill Elementary School, are shown examining the contents of an owl pellet. Owl pellets are the expelled contents regurgitated by an owl. Often students will find bones of rodents and small birds in the pellet. During the month of December in Mrs. Dodd's science class, the students have been learning about the food chain by studying predators and their prey.

Box Tops for Education
Susan Suther, Madill Elementary Parent Volunteer and Kristi Birdsong, Madill Elementary teacher, present Mrs. Morgan, Madill Elementary principal with a check for $544.00. This money was issued by Box Tops for Education. Parents, students and community members have donated boxtop earning coupons during the month of October to the school. Madill Elementary continues to collect earning coupons and appreciates all donations of boxtops.

Pictures with Santa
Monday, December 5th Santa will be at the Madill Elementary School to take pictures. Packets went home with children Wednesday and will need to be returned with payment enclosed to have pictures taken. Come dressed festive and bring your smiles!!

Hanging of the Green
A silent bid fundraiser is being held at the Madill BancFirst lobby to raise money for the Madill Elementary School. Each second and third grade class has decorated a wreath that was provided by the Integris Hospital. Silent bids will be accepted until Saturday, December 10th at the bank's closing time. The winning bidder for each wreath will be contacted on Monday, December 12th.

4-H AFR Speech Competition
Ashlynn Arnold, a fourth grade student at Madill Elementary School, received a third place plaque for her participation in the 4-H Speech Competition held at Wilburton Eastern College on November 14th. Ashlynn fared very well with her entertaining and informative speech titled "Fire Ants and Flip-Flops," especially considering the fact that she competed in the class above her level. She was competing against seventh and eighth grade students. Congratulations Ashlynn, we are proud of you for winning third place in the 4-H Speech Competition sponsored by The American Farmers and Ranchers!
