February is American Heart Month! Did you know heart disease is the leading cause of death for both men and women, killing an estimated 63,000 Americans each year?

Over the next month, in PE class, we will be talking about ways to be heart healthy and the importance of making healthy choices. We will also be having a month long pedometer challenge between all classes grades 2-5.

How the challenge will work:

Starting Wednesday, February 1st / Ending Wednesday, March 8th

Every morning one student from each class will come to the office and pick up a pedometer. This student will wear the pedometer all day and turn it back in to the office at 2:30pm where we will record their steps for the day. Each student will get to wear the pedometer for one day during the challenge. We will be using homeroom class rosters to keep track of the steps. The class with the most steps at the end of the challenge will be rewarded with an extra event at field day!

Friday, February 3rd is National Wear Red Day. Please encourage students to wear RED to school on Friday!
